Catch Up on the Night: a group happening taking the form of a collective reading in Manchester, UK on Saturday 28th October 2017 8.30 - 9.30am.
All are very welcome.
Night is a time we often consider ourselves to be inactive. But this seeming passivity is an essential time of healing, rejuvenation and rest that can be incredibly telling.
Each participant is asked to go about their evening on Friday 27th October 2017 in the way they planned (or is normal to them) – without taking the following morning’s reading into consideration.
As soon as they wake, they are to write an account of the night from getting into bed onwards. This can be as long / short / detailed / minimal as the individual wishes.
From 8.30am – 9.30am on Saturday 28th October, all participants will come together in the Northern Quarter, Manchester (exact location will be emailed once registered) to read their description. The happening will be audio recorded.
This audio will make up part of a piece to be presented the following week in In Nothing Flat (Old Granada Studios, Manchester) – the exhibition finale of StudioBook (Mark Devereux Projects), an 8-month mentoring programme which brought together twelve women artists from around the UK.
